flower box peanut butter filled brownies

i feel sorry for any plant that comes under my possession.
the poor thing does not have a chance.

the only way i can get a green thumb is to soak my thumb in green food dye or paint it in permanent ink but we know even that won't last.

one time i was so tired of killing all my plants and flowers that i ever bought so i just resorted to getting silk plants.

yes i know they are not cheap but i got one and boy it did sure liven up my mantle.

until one day i decided to actually be domestic so i got my endust and started to spray the dust bunnies away.

that day i actually moved things out of the way to dust underneath instead of around them.
one of the things i moved was my huge silk fern i got.

but oopsies!
i instead knocked it over, thus making it crash to the ground and a bunch of its leaves fell out. i tried my hardest to put it all together but it was useless. it looked very sickly with its fern leaves all in a
hodge-podge-hurricane-attacked-looking-manner.
i killed a silk plant.

my black thumb won again.

but wait!
i was bound and determined that i have some kinda plant or flower in my house.
so i made these:
yes, these are my kinda flowers.

made of candy, and growing quite well,
thank you very much.
and they are sitting on top of a peanut butter filled brownie flower box.

yippee!
let's make some together ok?
you can get the pan here.

set that aside for now.

yippee! you are done.
so all you gotta do now is,

wouldn't these be great for a mother's day treat?
oh no!
looks like it's back to the drawing board to keep my flowers alive.

well, at least they were great while they lasted...

3-in-1 dolly bars

well, i have a teen daughter.
and she is beautiful.

problem is, there are many boys who think the same.
lay off my kid buster! hehe

i do wonder though, what guy she will end up marrying and pray she find a good mate, like so many of us wish for our own child.

i mean there are so many choices she can pick.
all with their own flavor and style and personality.
and i have a feeling there will be proposals.

and more proposals.
and by the time she agrees on one, i hope they are a match made in heaven.
luckily for her there is no pre-arranged marriage.
cuz i have a pretty good feeling that would not work.
i only hope and pray again she choose wisely.
cuz when that time comes for a wedding,
we'll have a grand one.
and everything will hopefully flow smoothly.
and they'll have a wonderful honeymoon at some exotic paradise.
followed by years and years of bliss.
and trials that will only make them stronger.
and i'll have lovely grandchildren to enjoy!
so i can make these dolly bars for them.
3 different kinds in one pan, in case they are picky eaters like my daughter was when she was little.
but what if we all want to go somewhere together without the kids/grandkids?

i know! i'll let you watch over them.
i'm sure they'll be in good hands.
1/2 cup butter
14 oz box of graham cracker crumbs
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup coconut
1 cup toffee bits
1 cup caramel bits
1 can (15 oz.) sweetened condensed milk

Melt the butter; mix in graham cracker crumbs. Pat crumb mixture in a 9-x13-inch cookie pan. Sprinkle the remaining ingredients over the crumbs in 3 different ways, depending on your individual taste. Chocolate & peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips & coconut and toffee & caramel bits are used in the pic above. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over all. Do NOT stir. Bake at 350° for about 25 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

and serve to your picky eaters like mine, where one doesn't like coconut, one doesn't like chocolate (can you believe it?!) and the other doesn't like butterscotch.

as for me, i like them all so i can eat the whole pan cuz you know, it's not good to waste food...

nachos & dip dessert

seeing is believing.
or is it?

i don't think so,
as the mind can play tricks on you.
(cue twilight zone music)

take this dessert for example.
it's anything but salty.

but it sure the heck is gooood!

there's no recipe i followed, i just threw ready made stuff together.

and had a ton of fun making it cuz that's what it's all about when you come to this blog :)

so without further ado,
let's make some yummy fun!
is that really cool whip? confectioner's sugar? philadelphia white chocolate indulgence cream cheese?

so did you believe it when you saw it?

i don't know about you but i am totally confused.
either way,
try these for May 5th.

so now that you see it,
you ask, "are they good?"
you'll believe it when you taste it.

mini purse gift bags

what do you do when your camera acts up and takes lousy pictures?

what do you do when you try to edit them for a post and they still look lousy?

what do you do when you think you should start taking the pics all over again?

you don't.
you just go with it.
and make them black and white! heehee

here we go with a mommy's day craft.

i had some cute treat bags i got awhile ago here. but i have a really hard time using them cuz greedy me wants to keep them for myself. it's awful i know.

it's the darn packaging.
gets. me. every. time.

like put a hot dog on a napkin.
i'll pass it by without even looking.

put a hot dog in a colorful polka dot wrapper even though it's 5 weeks old with mold on it and i will be drawn to it like a bee to honey.

what a weirdo i am.
and i don't even really like hot dogs.

blasted packaging.
i'm cursed for sure.

anyway, i got my little bags and decided to make them a little cuter when i wrap the gifts i am going to give my MIL for mom's day.

here's what i did.
i took my bags and folded them about 1/3 down, opened them back up again and cut the edges just to the fold line.
then i put some double stick tape on the inside of the flap i just made (sorry it's hard to see!).
then real carefully i stuffed the flap inside the bag and flattened it out. next i folded the other flap's top like you see below.
and i added some embellishments like brads i found at michael's(ugh i live there) and a pom pom trim i sewed together and taped to the inside with washi tape.

i went to the kitchen and made some little flower rice krispie treats topped with a sixlet to put inside.
(these krispies are YUMMO by the way.)

for my next purse i grabbed my hole puncher and more sticker embellishments. and some pompom ribbon trim that i also just taped with washi on the inside of the purse bag.
i wanted a little wallet so i went and did this:
just cut the edge of the flap again til the fold mark, tuck it inside, and secure with double stick tape.
oh and add your little brad.
(no not you mr. pitt!)
ok that was dumb.

well, here they are anyway.
i stuck some earrings in the little wallet purse and then stuck the little wallet purse in one of the bags.

ok we'll try for a little color now.

i think this little detail will make your mom happy when you give her a gift on her special day!
unless of course you are wrapping a couch.
or a mixer.

you may have trouble closing the bag...
don't say i didn't warn ya!
