mini easter candy-filled cakestands

some say i am craft crazed.
and i must admit, i do too, especially with the holidays.

and with no gifts to wrap or costumes to pick out,
easter may just be my craftiest holiday yet because there's more time for creating stuff.

and easter comes early this year!
imagine if i had another week or so.
i would have bunny ears growing outta my head.

anyway, i certainly hope you guys aren't sick of me with my recent, numerous, unusual, amount of posts.
but i think you'll be ok with what i have for you today.

cuz i pretty much giggle when i see these sitting on my kitchen counter.
turn around guys.
they're miniature cake stands.
an easter version of these i made back in december.

if you wanna make some of your own, be prepared for a lot of pics since i am a visual craft teacher.
first off, raid your craft room or store like hobby lobby for this obnoxious amount of stuff:
here is a closeup pic of some of the wood supplies taken from the christmas cakestand post i just talked about.
i got them at hobby lobby awhile ago.
my store doesn't have the candlesticks all the time so be on the look out. i think they get bought as soon as they are stocked.

but you can also buy them here online.

ok let's get this started already.
first up is paint and glitter while still wet.
when dry, hot glue the circle to the base.
oooo purdy!
i left the purple one with scattered glitter.
i had to put a load of laundry in the dryer and got distracted multi-tasking.
i figure it's artsy?...

ok now you gotta get another obnoxious amount of supplies:
see that "totally exhausted parent in training" rub-on transfer with the polka dots?
that's me.
i have 2 kids and am still training. i figure i will never be done with that.

i digress...(we'll talk about the rub-on transfers in a sec).

let's start out with the chick cakestand ok?

for this you'll need orange washi tape.
just fold as pictured and tape to the 3 inch ornament. i used the larger of the 3 for a reason you'll see soon.
now for the rest of his body.
the 3 inch ornament will overhang on the cakestand. this allows the feet to hang.

now for the wings.
yeah, i had to draw the dotted line for you cuz i forgot to take a pic of it-dang that line was hard to do! :>P

oh and before i forget, glue the chick's feather tail on the back. (not shown)

next up....the easter egg!
the polka dots are what drew me in. how could i resist?

and the exhausted parent sticker is something i am gonna transfer to my forehead.
maybe the kids will get the hint.

oopsies! i digress again...
back to the easter egg. oh yeah, use the 2 1/2 inch ornament.
yeah i screwed up on the one purple polka dot when i was transferring it.
but i'm exhausted remember?

ok 2 cakestands down.
2 to go.

i see a bunny comin'...
3 short pieces of twine cut at different lengths, hot glued to the button plug and then hot glued to the 2 1/2 inch ornament.

white duct tape and pink dotted washi tape for the ears will do, thank you.

fold as shown.
and ignore my yellow painted nail. that's as far as i go with a manicure these days by the way...

don't forget the pompom tail, sharpie mouth and bow on his neck.
and for our final one (whew!) use a clear 8 oz. plastic cup.

chipboard flowers, twine and washi tape for this one.

FI.
NA.
LEE!
done.

ta da! ta da! ta da!
and again let's check out the back side.
ok so now that you got these, what do you do with them you say?

you fill them up with CANDY!!!!

i hear the chick likes reese's cups.
and the easter bunny always puts kisses in the eggs.
i hear he keeps the chocolate bars for himself sometimes.
hey but what to do with the flower cup?
flowers don't eat candy!

no, but i guarantee you'll find a rabbit or two in the garden.
yip yip yippee!
it's a candy-filled world over here.
i really like these.

this exhausted parent is gonna maybe keep these all to herself...
naaaaw, i'll give it to my cavity-filled kids (just kidding!)
but first i'll sneak a piece from the easter bunny...
happy easter crafting!

  10. You're killing me with these cute Easter ideas! Using an ornament for the cover is so clever ... is it tall enough to fit a cupcake under it? I guess you could always use a mini cupcake too. LOVE this!

    1. sorry Randi the last thing i wanna do is kill you off LOL! the stands will get wobbly if it's too top heavy-a mini cupcake will fit but the frosting can't be too high. they would definitely fit in the plastic glass cover though! also cookies would work or even a small gift like earrings or a ring!...and just to let you know, i got MORE easter stuff coming too! i hope you live thru it! heehee :>D

  24. This is just the cutest idea!!!! Going to give a baby shower can't wait to do this with baby ideas and cupcakes. Also what a fantastic idea for birthday party or slumber party idea for "tweens" favors. This would be neat to let older kids decorate and/or make themselves for craft time. The possibilities are endless just because of your FANTASTICE IDEA.
THANK YOU AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE CUTEST IDEAS.
